Today is no ordinary day at Moor Road—we are celebrating a momentous occasion, and you’re invited to be a part of it! Join us for a spectacular blend of steam power, living history, and railway heritage as we officially name one of our magnificent locomotives.

Whether you’re a lifelong train enthusiast or looking for an unforgettable family day out, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

🚂 Regular Steam Departures

Feel the power of live steam! Our regular passenger services will be departing from Moor Road throughout the day at:

• Morning: 10:30, 11:10, 11:50, 12:30

• Afternoon: 13:30, 14:10, 14:40, 15:30

🎩 The Grand Naming Ceremony (12:30 PM)

Gather with us at noon for the main event! Watch history in the making as Lord Faulkner, President of the Heritage Railway Association, leads the official naming ceremony of our locomotive.

⚔️ Napoleonic Living History & Pageantry

Step back into the early 19th century! A spectacular team of historical re-enactors will provide a formal Guard of Honour, dressed in the striking Napoleonic-era uniforms of His Majesty’s 33rd Regiment of Foot (Yorkshire’s very own infantry regiment).

The adventure doesn’t stop there—throughout the day, the regiment will be bringing the past to life with fascinating interactive demonstrations, including:

• Historic Arms & Armour: See the weapons and gear of 19th-century soldiers up close.

• Period Crafts: Discover the intricate art of traditional spinning and early 1800s daily life.

🎟️ Catch the “Salamanca” Special (13:00 PM)

Following the ceremony, the newly-christened locomotive, HE6981 Salamanca, will pull a very special, exclusive service.

Exclusive Upgrade Opportunity: While this historic first run is primarily for invited guests, Day Rover ticket holders can jump on board!

For just a £3 supplement per rider, you can be among the very first members of the public to ride behind Salamanca.
