In our shop we have for sale a variety of railway books, including some that deal specifically with aspects of the Middleton Railway. The main ones of these are as follows.
- The history of the Middleton Railway;
- our locomotive stock book;
- the book The Middleton Stories; and
- a range of other books, mainly with a local focus.
This is the eighth and most recent edition of the history of the Middleton Railway, which was written by our honorary archivist, Sheila Bye, and published in 2004. It has 68 pages and over 30 illustrations, and provides a definitive account of the development of the Middleton Colliery from before the railway was built, and the development of the railway itself.
Its ISBN is 0 9516205 5 X. It is available from our shop for £2.00. It is also available by mail order: see below for details of this.
This is the seventh and most recent edition of our stockbook, which gives details of all the locomotives and most of the other rolling stock that is on the railway. It was published in 2015, and is available from our shop for £3.50. It is also available by mail order: see below for details of this.
Written by Peter Savage, these stories are aimed at younger visitors, and are based on some of our locomotives and characters. The book is only available from our shop, for 50p.
We can supply any of these books by mail at an additional cost of £2.00 each for post and packing. To order phone 0845-680-1758 (please, only between 9.30am and 7.00pm) and have your credit/debit card details ready. Or, you can write to us at - The Middleton Railway Trust Ltd (DVD), The Station, Moor Road, Hunslet, Leeds, LS10 2JQ.
Please note that, while we can take most credit and debit cards, we can not accept American Express or Diners Card.
As well as our own books that are listed above, we also have some back numbers of our quarterly magazine, "The Old Run", which are available at 50p each. In addition we carry a small stock of other books that are relevant to the Leeds area or to industrial railways. It is not practical to list all these here, but you are welcome to call in at the railway to see what we have got.
We also have a stock of second-hand railway books that have been donated to us to sell, but again it is not practical to list them here. If you wish to call in to see what is in stock - or perhaps even to donate some that you no longer wish to keep - our shop staff will be pleased to help.
Other pages give more information about other kinds of items that we have for sale, as follows:
- railway-themed DVDs and videos (including ones of events that we have run);
- the book "Bert's Tales of Middleton"; and
- other kinds of souvenirs.
Or you can return to the "Refreshments and Souvenirs" section of the Visit Us page.
